Student Initiatives
Student Luncheon
The student luncheon will be held at the conference hotel on Thursday May 29, 2008. This event is FREE for all students who register for the conference and a great chance to connect with friends and meet new people! Information about the elections process for student representatives will be sent out on April 1, 2008. The election will take place during the student luncheon.
2008 NASSM Student Social
The NASSM student board is pleased to offer a student social on Friday May 30th, 2008 at Philthy McNasty's Bar & Grill in Toronto . . . just down the street from the conference hotel!
We have reserved the party room and patio, so we hope you'll join us! It will be a fun place to grab dinner with old and new friends and hang out for the evening. A group will meet in the lobby of the hotel beforehand (7:30pm) and then head over. Students and professors are welcome to join us throughout the night. We hope this event will provide a great opportunity to socialize and discuss research, collaboration, life, and leisure. We hope to see you all there!
Student Workshop
Getting on the Publication Plane: Publication processes for new scholars
The task of seeking out and applying for faculty positions can be intimidating for new, or soon-to-be, graduates of sport management doctoral programs. Many sport management positions require new PhDs to have scholarly research; therefore the purpose of this interactive panel presentation is to help graduate students become aware of publishing expectations and learn how to navigate the publication process. While the focus of this panel discussion is directed at graduate students, all NASSM attendees are welcome to listen to the panel and join in the conversation. Check your conference program for the date and time of the workshop.
